EANx GAS BLENDER

A. PURPOSE

1. This program is designed to train competent personnel in the safe handling of oxygen and the preparation of EANx.

B. PREREQUISITES.

1. Must have a need to become a gas blender such as works for a EANx training or full service facility, or if not affiliated with a facility must be a certified Advanced EANx Diver and located in a remote area.

2. Must be recommended by an IANTD Instructor or Facility.

1. IANTD Blending and Partial Pressure Methods of Mixing EANx.

D. PROGRAM CONTENT

1. Practical: Minimum of 2 hours hands on experience preparing EANx.

2. Score 80% on a written exam and demonstrate mixing capability.

E. EQUIPMENT

1. IANTD mixing station.

2. Oxygen analyzer.

F. PROGRAM LIMITS

1. All equipment used in this program must be compatible with the EANx mixtures being prepared and the method in which the EANx is being blended.

2. To be qualified to prepare valves and other hardware for EANx use the gas blender must be a Certified Technician with the manufacturer of the equipment being serviced.

3. Blenders may not perform duties other than cylinder cleaning, visual inspections and gas mixing unless certified as a Technician with the manufacturer of the equipment being prepared for EANx use.
