EANx INSTRUCTOR AND ADVANCED EANx INSTRUCTOR CROSSOVER

A. PURPOSE

1. This program is designed to insure professional and quality training to IANTD Divers. An IANTD EANx Instructor may certify IANTD Open Water Diver, IANTD OWND, IANTD Advanced Open Water Diver, IANTD EANx Diver, and IANTD Specialty Diver ratings. An IANTD Advanced EANx Instructor may award the IANTD Deep Air Diver, IANTD Advanced EANx Diver and IANTD Divemaster Certification as well as the aforementioned Recreational Open Water Diver qualifications.

B. PREREQUISITES

1. Certified Recreational Air Diving Instructor on active status with an internationally accredited Scuba association.

2. Certified Advanced IANTD EANx Diver or equivalent; this may be done in conjunction with the crossover.

3. For IANTD Advanced EANx Instructor must have a log of 125 dives, be certified as an Advanced EANx Diver (can be completed during the crossover) and have a log of 25 dives on EANx.

4. Minimum 18 years of age.

C. TEXTS

1. The IANTD EANx Student Manual & Workbook, IANTD EANx Instructor Manual, IANTD Standards and Procedures Manual, IANTD Facility Manual, IANTD General Program Information and Outlines.

2. For IANTD Advanced EANx Instructors, the Deep Air Student Workbook and the Advanced EANx Student Manual & Workbook or equivalent texts approved in writing by the Board of Directors. Written approval will be issued by IANTD World Headquarters.

D. PROGRAM CONTENT

1. The IANTD EANx Instructor IEC is a comprehensive evaluation program conducted by an IANTD EANx Instructor Trainer. This program normally incorporates three full days.

2. Completion of applicable water skills from section F. The Advanced EANx Instructor candidate is to present one lecture from the Deep Air Diver Workbook and one lecture from the Advanced EANx Student Manual and Workbook. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in teaching the water skills required in the Deep Air and Advanced EANx programs. The candidate must supervise at least one open water dive in the Deep Air Diver training program and one open water dive in Advanced EANx Diver training program.

E. CERTIFICATION RENEWAL

1. Teach a minimum of 2 IANTD EANx Diver programs annually, or co-teach 3 IANTD EANx Diver programs in Active Teaching Status.

F. WATERSKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR ADVANCED EANx INSTRUCTOR

Water skills are required for all Instructors crossing over from other agencies.

1. Swim 60 feet (18 meters) without breathing, while slowly exhaling (regulator in mouth) then commence gas sharing, start swimming at a rate of 75 feet (23 meters) per minute for 10 minutes.

2. Swim SCUBA 1,500 feet (450 meters) in under 16 minutes.

3. Demonstrate teaching open water skills as per IT assignment.

4. In mask snorkel and fins swim 1,200 feet (365 meters) in under 10 minutes.

5. Swim in mask, snorkel and fins 100 feet (30 meters) underwater without surfacing.

6. Alternate gas source gas share for 100 feet (30 meters) without wearing a mask.

For Advanced EANx Instructor do the following in addition to the above:

1. Demonstrate valve shutdown combined with regulator switches in under 1 minute.

2. Deploy lift bag in under 1½ minutes.

3. Demonstrate stage tank removal and replacement without a noticeable change in swim pace.

4. Demonstrate teaching skills in the Deep Air Diver Program and the Advanced EANx Diver program as assigned by IT.

5. Demonstrate in water supervision skills of either a Deep Air Diver or Advanced EANx Diver program.
