Some Relevant Course Details and Some Costs
Costs:
Books and Materials:
- $300 which includes shipping to your address from different sources
- This fee is due upon sign up
- It can be made by check or check or cash deposited into a US Bank account in your area
- If this option is used, an account number will be made available.
SEI Instructor Trainer (IT) Fees: Fee dependent on several items, location, travel expenses, time, etc, payable to
IT and deposited prior to class.
SEI Scuba Agency Fees: $250 payable to SEI Diving at successful completion of the course.
You provide:
Pool:
- Suitable SEI or equivalent pool with a 6 foot minimum depth
- fees
- transportation to and from
- etc
- for both student and IT for pool sessions on two days (2 to 3 hour minimum each day)
- times need not be the same.
Open Water Site:
- Suitable SEI open water site
- fees
- transportation to and from
- etc
Equipment: Standard Leadership Diving Equipment for pool and open water use. List is
provided in the Materials listed above. We will be going to the open water.
Cylinders: Enough for the IT and enough for you, filled with at least 2250 psi of air
for all pool and open water sessions.
Time:
- Expect that we would meet around 8 am on the first day and go until 5 pm
- depending on the number of candidates and just how active is the discussion
- We will then meet again at 9 am and go until 4 pm on the second day
- if all goes well and the candidates produce acceptable results.
Be expected to Complete:
Swim Test: Be prepared to take the swim test(s), as outlined in the materials, on the first
day of the class.
Take Home Exam: Complete the take home exam prior to class, provided in the materials, and
we will discuss during class.
Scuba Diving 3rd Edition exams: Complete the scuba course exam prior to class, provided in
the materials, and we will discuss during class.
Paper Work Requirements:
Provide the IT a copy of the following on the first day of class:
- current medical history form completed by your physician
- copies of your scuba (rescue, divemaster, and assistant instructor) ratings (cards)
- copies of your scuba specialty ratings (cards)
Also provide a copy of the following by the completion of class:
- your current CPR card
- current First Aid card
- and current oxygen administration certification. If you would like, the IT can provide these three certifications
for an extra expense and time commitment.
Prerequisites:
The IT will need documentation of the following:
- at least one year of diving experience since entry-level certification
- 100 logged SCUBA dives
- 15 hours of lecture experience
- proof of assisting with at least three separate open water class checkouts
- a complete classroom and pool teaching outline for entry-level SCUBA class you plan to teach.
